My Story

So, you like my blog, but now you want to get to know the girl behind it… You’ve come to the right place! My name is Lauren Leonard, but you can call me Lo! I am a 20-year-old college student and sorority woman with a love for fashion, beauty, communication, and bringing positivity into the lives of others. I am a firm believer that laughter is the best medicine, and that there is no such thing as too much glitter!

In High School, I was the girl who was friendly with everyone, but never had a set friend group. As a result of this, I spent most weekends staying at home binge watching fashion and beauty videos on YouTube. From there, I discovered the wonderful world of blogging, and have wanted to dabble in both ever since. I was once fearful to take the plunge into blogging due to thoughts of failure and criticism. I have always struggled with obsessively caring about the opinions of others, but have recently learned to do otherwise and have never felt so good.

Although another person has never seriously bullied me, I once was my own bully. I hated the way I looked, and struggled to look in mirrors. I thought I was this massive, atrocious, acne covered creature, and although I was a bit overweight and definitely had acne, no one saw me in this light but myself. I used to wear makeup every day from the moment I woke up to the second my head hit the pillow, fake eyelashes and all. I would not leave the house without it, not because I enjoyed doing it, but because I was insecure in my appearance. There wasn’t a day of my high school career that I wasn’t attempting to diet, and I missed out on a lot of delicious food because of this.

Today, it is a rare occurrence to see me wearing makeup. I still love it, and have a passion for spending way too much money on products that I find “pretty”, but I feel confident enough in who I am as a person to realize I don’t need to pack on a face of makeup when I don’t feel like it. I still attempt to eat pretty healthily most of the time, and certainly have days where I feel a bit fluffy, but if I pass an ice cream or cupcake shop, you better believe I will be getting myself some ice cream and (a whole box of) cupcakes. As for the acne, my skin is now completely clear, thanks to my dermatologists over the years. I still have a few breakouts now and then, but I don’t let a pimple keep me down.

You may be confused as to why I’m telling you my story so early on, or why I am getting so personal with people who I barely know, but I am putting my story on the Internet so that people know what I am about, and what this blog will be about. My mission is to inspire other people to find themselves. I want everyone to feel comfortable here. My life is not glamorous like a lot of other bloggers, and I have fully accepted that. I am your average college student, and although I may post a few attractive pictures that make my life seem like its put together, those are only snippets from my life. No one’s life is perfect, and that is something I want to be very transparent on this blog. My heart breaks for women who struggle with self-confidence like I did, and  I want to inspire everyone to love themselves for who they truly are. By providing tips and tricks, my goal is to help people slowly gain their confidence back through My Loquacity.

  1. More power to you, girl! I found a great message in this blogpost, that there are millions of girls out there who feel exactly like you did. But aren’t we all beautiful? At times, we are our worst critics. We must learn to Self-Love before anything else.
    Kudos, to you! XOXO
