If you asked my family what I am most proud of, they might just say the sandwich that I’m about to share with you today. Okay, so that may be a bit dramatic, but I really do love this sandwich. It may sound like an odd “recipe” to share, but if you like sweet and salty combinations like I do, you will love my cinnamon raisin turkey sandwich!
There are probably about half of you that are reading this who are about to click off of this post due to your raisin phobia, and I totally get it, but as someone who doesn’t love raisins either, you can barely taste them! I promise! I have also had this sandwich with cranberry nut bread and it was just as amazing, so don’t be afraid to get creative and adjust this “recipe” to your liking.
Due to my desire to keep a healthy lifestyle, I always try to keep my ingredients as low calorie as possible. I know a lot of people are against tracking calories, but at the end of the day, losing weight is all about how many calories you intake/burn off each day. Of course, you should try to incorporate nutrient rich foods in your diet as well, but keeping track of the calories you’re taking in is in my opinion, just as important.
Cinnamon raisin bread can get pretty high in calories, so I take some time in the bread aisle selecting the lowest option. I enjoy the Pepperidge Farm brand; the bread is only 80 calories per slice, and absolutely delicious! 80 calories may seem like a lot, but the other ingredients used are fairly low as well, so in total, the recipe is under 300 calories.
While toasting my bread, I get out my deli turkey, American cheese, romaine lettuce, and Laughing Cow Swiss Garlic & Herb. Laughing Cow has a wide variety of flavors and can be used in so many different ways. Although I’m using it as a spread for my sandwich here, I have also used it with Pretzel Thins, vegetables, toast, and crackers.
I spread my Laughing Cow on the fully toasted pieces of bread, chop up some romaine lettuce, and place my ingredients on the cinnamon raisin bread. It’s as easy as that! I know this wasn’t much of a recipe, but I want to share the foods that I eat on a regular basis that work for me. This sandwich is a quick, easy, and delicious take on a classic sandwich that I encourage everyone to try! As always, give your feedback in the comments on what you thought of this post/ what posts you think I should do in the future!
