I have tried a lot of foundations throughout the years, and, over time, have become quite the critic. I am very specific about how my skin looks, and I personally think that foundation is the most important part of any makeup look. Today, I am doing my first product review on the Giorgio Armani Luminous Silk Foundation. Hopefully, this post is helpful to those of you debating about buying this foundation!
Giorgio Armani Luminous Silk is certainly not a new product to the market, but as more and more celebrities and make up artists talk about it, the more popular it becomes. At $64, this foundation is definitely not cheap, but is not at the highest price point of the foundations on the market either. This foundation is described to be a “lightweight liquid foundation that achieves a radiant, silky finish”(Sephora.com) In this review, I will be letting you guys know if the description is accurate, addressing the criticisms from other people, and giving my personal pros and cons on this product!
Of all of the foundations I have tried throughout the years, Giorgio Armani Luminous Silk Foundation is definitely the most lightweight. I am very picky about coverage, and most of the foundations that I use to achieve the amount of coverage I like, make my skin feel like I have a lot of foundation on my face. Having more of a runny consistency, this product makes me feel like I don’t have anything on my skin, and I have almost forgotten to take off my makeup a few times before bed because of this.
This foundation leaves my skin looking radiant and silky, as the description promises. I have seen a few reviews saying that they didn’t find the product to be luminous, and I think it really depends on your skin type and how you apply it. This product allows your skin to shine through, causing the foundation to look like your own skin. I always wear a moisturizer and hydrating primer before applying foundation; I think this really helps with the application of any foundation.
Although some people love the barely there look, others, like myself like to have a little more coverage. This foundation is great for both types of people because it is extremely buildable. You can layer the foundation to add coverage if desired without it becoming cakey, or put on one thin layer for a “no- makeup makeup” look. This foundation comes in 42 shades as well, so it is super easy to find the perfect color for your skin. I wear the shade 4, and it matches my skin perfectly. Although this foundation is buildable, with a $64 price point, I personally don’t like to use a lot of product.
Overall, although I love the finish of this foundation and use it regularly, if you have a few problem areas on your skin, or want a fuller coverage, this foundation may not be the one for you. The Giorgio Armani Luminous Silk Foundations is one of my favorites, but I definitely go a little heavier on the concealer on the days that I am wearing it.
